What does fostering a child involve?
Some children need a foster home for a short time, others much longer. Many children are unable to live with their families and have experienced unimaginable things. As a result their expectations of themselves and others around them may be quite low.
We believe that fostering a child brings many rewards. The best reward is seeing a young person overcome their challenges and fulfil their own ambitions in life and achieve their true potential.
The ability of you as a foster carer to support a child through their life experiences and regain their trust in others is down to your ability to show your compassion, your respect of diversity, your empathy and patience, your ability to really listen, your personal resilience and your willingness to be a key part of a professional team focused on supporting the child to achieve their full potential in life.
