Fostering in Hertfordshire

If you live in Hertfordshire and you are thinking about fostering then we are the Hertfordshire agency for you.

According to the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children, Looked After Children and Care Leavers Annual Report 2017-2017, there are currently just over 900 children in care in Hertfordshire with over 300 (33%) of these children being placed out of county.

We are a forward thinking independent fostering agency looking for foster carers in Hemel Hempstead, Bishop’s Stortford, Stevenage, Watford and St Albans. We have a team of wonderful local social workers and therapists and we believe that everyone involved with To the Moon and Back Foster Care has the ability to influence positive change and continuous improvement. We emphasise equal partnerships and achieve effective team work and we feel very strongly that all looked after children in Hertfordshire should have the same life chances as every other child and that being a looked after child should not reduce their life opportunities or outcomes.

There are different types of fostering

Fostering siblings

Fostering siblings

At To The Moon And Back we strive to keep siblings together where possible. We understand that initially being in foster care can be a traumatic experience for any child and so we aim to make the transition as easy as possible. One of the best ways we can do this, is by placing siblings together. Across Hertfordshire there is a big demand for the opportunity to keep siblings fostered together. Sibling groups vary in size, and the keeping of large sibling groups together is a particular challenge. If you have the capacity to care for a sibling group regardless of the size we would be delighted to talk to you informally about how you can help to keep a family together.

Fostering teenagers

Fostering teenagers

Hertfordshire children regardless of their age are in care through no fault of their own. There are large numbers of teenagers in Hertfordshire in need of a local Hertfordshire foster home. Teenagers have emotional needs as a result of the hurt, loss and separation they may have experienced. Sometimes the older children have had to protect their younger siblings and as a result have provided the role of parents from a young age and as such not had anyone focus on their needs.
