Foster carers in the professional team: how are they included?

Foster carers in the professional team play an active role in supporting each child and contributing to important decisions. Foster carers often understand the child’s day-to-day needs best, so we make sure they are kept informed, listened to and given opportunities to share their observations and experience.

Where needed, we advocate for foster carers so their knowledge contributes to decisions and better outcomes for the child. Some carers may also have opportunities to support others through paid sessional work or peer mentoring roles.
