Janet’s story

Janet’s story

I have been single for over 15 years. I used to work as a flight attendant but originally trained as a hairdresser. When my marriage ended, I carried on flying for a while and living in my flat, but my when my parents passed away, I inherited their home and for the first time I felt I had the opportunity to foster a child, something I had wanted to do for years. My friend is a foster carer and she inspired me to look into it. I now have been fostering for just over 12 years and no two days are the same.

The team know my pets have a habit of joining meetings. I usually start the day about 6.00am, reading the morning papers on my phone in bed before I face the world. It is not normally that long before I need caffeine to kick start the day, not a great habit, but most people have one vice and coffee is mine.

On a good day I will start the day with some mediation and yoga, – I love YouTube for this, or I use an app on my phone. On a less focused day, the TV goes on for half an hour while I eat my toast and enjoy the quiet time before I get going.
